About the Position

Anglicare SQ supports all kinds of people who may be impacted by mental health and wellbeing challenges, from new parents, children transitioning through school, to people planning retirement and everything in between. We are here to provide the support needed at home or out in the community, for people to live the life they want. We are currently looking for a full time Officer - Intake and Assessment to join our team based in Strathpine.

The overall purpose is to provide comprehensive intake and assessment in collaboration with the client, which reflects their choices and preferences, in order to support prospective clients into the most appropriate service stream within Mental Health & Wellbeing Services and/or support prospective clients into external services with other community partners.

 

About You

With experience in Community Services, Mental Health or Counselling you skills and capabilities will include:

  • Proactively engaging with clients to support, guide and assist them to make positive life decisions
  • Advocating for clients - both internally and externally - to ensure they receive appropriate services
  • Confidence and knowledge to work effectively with a range of clients, including those with challenging behaviours
  • Proven experience collaborating with external agencies by building rapport and establishing relationships
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and cultural awareness of family relationships and dynamics

With a friendly, approachable and enthusiastic attitude, you will also have:

  • Flexibility and be able to respond quickly to changing priorities, while maintaining a calm and composed demeanour
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to relate effectively across a broad range of ages, cultures and socio-economic groups
  • Exceptional relationship building skills and an open style that encourages rapport with others
  • Emotional resilience and ability to remain professional at all times
  • Able to monitor and manage your own workload while working within role expectations, deadlines and management requirements
  • An unwavering attention-to-detail, even when tasks get routine and the drive to make a real contribution to our passionate team
  • Availability to work evenings if required

To be successful you will be required to hold a current National Police Certificate, a Blue Card (Working with Children) with Yellow Card exemption and a Diploma-level qualification in Community Services or similar field.
