About the Position

Anglicare’s Southport Respite Centre is a purpose build centre that provides facilities for aged clients and clients with a disability to attend activities in a safe and controlled environment - both indoors and outdoors. We recognise that one size does not fit all, and working together is the key to great outcomes, so our non-clinical lifestyle programs are designed to support individual needs, incorporating the principles of social inclusion, choice and control, empowerment and independence.

We are currently seeking a full time Cook, with experience in the Aged Care or Community sectors, to prepare, cook and serve nourishing, palatable and attractive meals for our respite centre clients which are consistent with the food service budget. The role is also responsible for ensuring that the safety and hygiene of kitchen area and equipment is maintained and adhered to within legislative and Workplace Health & Safety requirements. The role is Monday - Friday during business hours.

 

About You

An experienced Cook looking for your next challenge, you promote nutritious and delicious meals, and can offer the following attributes, skills and experiences:

  • Preparation and cooking of nourishing, tasty meals and mid-meals
  • A sound understanding of specialist dietary requirements including textured modified diets
  • Ensuring menu planning and meals sit within the Food Service budget
  • Proven knowledge of stock control, including purchasing, delivery and storage of food and beverages
  • Positive and flexible attitude toward client’s special requests including birthdays
  • Compliance with all Infection Control guidelines and Food Safety requirements
  • Energetic and innovative approach to food and meal planning
  • Understanding and caring; awareness of individual needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage a diverse team of permanent and casual staff members
  • Professional in personal appearance, attitude and expectations
  • Collaborative team player who enjoys working with others

You must hold relevant qualifications in Food Service or Commercial Cooking (minimum Certificate IV) and a current National Police Certificate. Completion of (or willingness to obtain) HLTFSE001, HLTFSE005 and HLTFSE007 Food Safety units is preferred.
