Team Leader - Justice & Housing Support

About the Position

We all want a place to call home, but sometimes maintaining a roof over our head isn’t easy. Anglicare SQ provide accommodation and support to single women, and young women with children who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. Our large, integrated service centre is based at Toowong and we are currently looking for a human services professional to make a significant contribution to our program and the outcomes we achieve in the community.

We are currently looking for a part time Team Leader to fulfil a fixed term contract to work 26 hours per week, commencing April 2019 until end June 2021. The Team Leader - Justice & Housing Support will provide client–centred planned support for women of the Women’s Early Intervention Service (WEIS) who have a history of involvement in the criminal justice system not involving incarceration; and for men and women of the Queensland Drug and Alcohol Court program (QDAC) who have a history of long term substance misuse and incarceration. The role will also offer guidance and leadership to the Justice & Housing Support team.

 

About You

With a background in using a strengths-based approach to support those with a history of drug or alcohol abuse, and/or women who have a history with the criminal justice system, our ideal candidate will also offer:

  • Practical experience in case management of adults, and supported individual goal plans to mental health, addiction, trauma and community connectedness
  • Intervention strategies including homelessness, family support and at-risk individuals
  • A strong, robust understanding of Trauma Informed and Recovery Orientated Practice
  • Sound knowledge of social and community housing, and of issues facing women in the justice system and those who misuse drugs and/or alcohol
  • An even disposition with the capacity to problem solve, manage conflict and resolve incidents
  • Capacity to provide meaningful supervision and support to the team including overseeing daily operations
  • Demonstrated ability to build rapport and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of people
  • Confidence in self-management and the prioritisation of your own workload, along with a collaborative nature and team focus
  • High level of time management and attention to detail in administrative tasks to complete reporting, documentation and the improvement of processes and procedures

You will be required to hold a relevant degree (Social Work, Human Services, Justice or similar field) and/or offer equivalent practical experience; a Blue Card (Working with Children) and current Queensland Driver Licence.
