About the Position

Nestled within our leafy campus at Taigum, north Brisbane, our fully accredited service of St Martin's features landscaped gardens and a range of recreational facilities. Extending across three integrated wings, St Martin's offers residential aged care focused on providing excellent 24 hour nursing and care assistance. The service also caters for our most physically frail and those requiring palliative care.

Opened in October 2018 in Taigum, our fully accredited home, Symes Grove features modern state of the art amenities, landscaped gardens and a cottage model of accommodation to provide best practice care for people with memory support needs. Symes Grove offers residential aged care focused on providing excellent 24 hour nursing and care assistance. The home is located close to shops and situated on public transport routes.

We have a rare opportunity for a Coordinator, Spiritual and Pastoral Care to support residents and their families across both of these facilities for 16 hours per week. The major responsibilities include coordinating and providing spiritual and pastoral care within the facilities, including appropriate and accessible resources.

  

About You

With demonstrable experience within a local community of faith and a firm sense of your own spiritual identity, you will also have capabilities in:

  • Providing pastoral support to residents and their families, within professional scope in an environment of trust and confidentiality
  • Understanding of the relevant legislative requirements relating to the community aged and disability sector
  • Managing crises in the practice of pastoral car by identifying issues and possible solutions to problems
  • Offering professional/operational supervision to Pastoral Care Volunteers
  • Coordinating religious, spiritual and pastoral care providers and volunteers to provide a seamless single point of contact for all religious, spiritual and pastoral care activities within the facilities
  • Arranging activities and groups as appropriate to support pastoral care

Your exceptional communication skills, and ability to share your own knowledge in a respectful, caring manner, will be coupled with:

  • A history of regard for others, including spiritual belief and personal circumstance
  • Respectful of confidentiality and the need maintain integrity and professional understanding
  • Comfortable following organisational and business processes, with previous experience in a hospital or community care setting

You will need a current National Police Certificate and a Certificate IV in Pastoral Care, Spiritual Care Certificate - Multi-faith Academy, Clinical Pastoral Care Education or similar would be highly desired.
